Tripping the Trails Amongst the Synchronous Fireflies

We'll actually be a bit late to see the dancing fairies, but such a beautiful idea.

We've reserved this house between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and will be there over a week. The O'Leary clan is coming up for a few days, followed by the Trebing clan. We're scouring the house looking for our hiking boots and backpacks.

Van

Two tickets to see Van in August! I hope Doctor Wu and I won't need our binoculars from our seats to actually see him. Van's notoriously unfriendly to his fans, and has been known to walk off of the stage mid-song, mid-concert if his musicians are off-note or the crowd is too loud.

I subscribe to a mailing list of fans, and saw a link to some Van videos, such as "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You".



Others vids on the site seem all out of sync, like watching those kung-fu movies where lips don't mesh with sound.

Mark Helprin

Bought my favorite novel from Helprin's new website...I was thrilled to find out he'll autograph one and send it to you for cheaper than I could buy it at Borders. Of course, his signature looks like someone in their death throes trying to draw a rather low mountain range.

Recording tons of old records into the computer and digitizing them for the iPod...sooooo many scratches to edit. But it's worth the trouble.
