Nation's Liberals Suffering from Outrage Fatigue

From my The Onion desktop calendar:

WASHINGTON, DC —

According to a study released Monday by the Hammond Political Research Group, many of the nation's liberals are suffering from a vastly diminished sense of outrage.

"With so many right-wing shams to choose from, it's simply too daunting for the average, left-leaning citizen to maintain a sense of anger," said Rachel Neas, the study's director. "By our estimation, roughly 70 percent of liberals are experiencing some degree of lethargy resulting from a glut of civil-liberties abuses, education funding cuts, and exorbitant military expenditures."

Hilarious, and sad.

Never been to Reddit, but while there I also followed a link about the tripe that DeLay was spewing on TV concerning the protestors. Can't believe this man is being courted by anyone for his opinions. My gosh, protesting is now unpatriotic?

I can dig it. So many things to object to and so little time. I suspect that outrage fatigue is a very real phenomena dispite the cause. If it wasnt transient it would probably be fatal. Kind of like a self destruct aborted at the last minute and then the heavy sigh. The subtle ebb and flow of the process is interesting though. Perhaps a coordination of the ebb and flow to maintain a more constant barrage of agitation would yeild more progress. Dont we call it fatigue when we've spent ourselves without reward? Otherwise we call it an "after glow", I think. Its been awhile.

Have you seen DeLay in the last week whoring his new 'book?' It was always offensive to me, but now it also amazes me--the degree of power he had for as long as he did.

What I do like is ice cream.

Haven't paid attention to him this week, but I remember hearing last week by some commentator that Delay is trying to use the "i'm sorry" approach to redemption in the eyes of American conservatives, to be followed by an attempt to wend his way back into the limelight of "public service" in some capacity.
